Novell post OpenOffice.org OpenXML translator
Novell have posted the OpenXML translator for OpenOffice. This provides support for opening and saving Ecma 376 OpenXML documents (.docx) in OpenOffice.org.
System Requirements
The OpenOffice.org OpenXML Translator requires the following versions of OpenOffice.org:
OpenOffice.org 2.0.4 or later Novell edition for Windows
OpenOffice.org 2.0.4 or later for SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 and openSUSE 10.1
OpenOffice_org-2.0 package for SUSE Linux 9.3 and 10.0
OpenOffice_org-2.0.4 package for openSUSE 10.2
I'm just testing it now. I'll post some screenshots later perhaps.

Novell's CTO, Jeffe Jaffe, blogged about this earlier in the month when Novell and Microsoft announced their joint Interoperability Roadmap:-
Document Format Compatibility
As previously announced, Microsoft and Novell are delivering seamless interoperability between office productivity applications. Novell is cooperating with Microsoft and others on an open source project to create a bi-directional translator for documents, spreadsheets and presentations between the OpenDocument format (ODF), which is supported by OpenOffice.org, and Open XML, the default file format for Microsoft Office.
On Feb. 2, Microsoft announced the availability of the Open XML/ODF Translator for the 2007 Microsoft Office system, Microsoft Office 2003 and Microsoft Office XP. Later this month, Novell will release an Open XML/ODF Translator for the Novell edition of OpenOffice.org. The document translators represent the first product deliverables resulting from the technical collaboration between Microsoft and Novell. Both Novell and Microsoft will continue to work on the translator project to extend the interoperability to spreadsheets and presentations.
As you can see OpenOffice will soon be able to open OpenXML spreadsheets and presentation files. Perhaps the installation screens can be updated then too?
