Imperfect interoperability

Yesterday I posted a pointer to Novell's OpenXML translator for OpenOffice. I see Brian Jones has also made a comment about this - "OpenOffice support for the OpenXML formats".

Brian comments that "The tools that support the ISO ODF standard aren't yet fully compliant, but I think we're heading in the right direction. The same will be true for the OpenXML support." The link is to http://testsuite.opendocumentfellowship.org/summary.html - it's well worth a visit - it dispels in an instant the myth that OpenXML is too large a specification and that ODF is optimal. It also exposes the lie that ODF has multiple compliant implementations. Technology policy makers should see this chart and look at the details.
