Computerworld - ISO moves OpenXML to ballot phase
Eric Lae is reporting that "According to an e-mail sent Saturday by Lisa Rachjel, the secretariat of ISO’s Joint Technical Committee (JTC-1) on Information Technology, the Open XML proposal, along with comments and criticism by nations that have already reviewed it, will be put on the ISO’s five-month balloting process."
If true, this is welcome news. Governments that have been, and in some cases remain, subject to intense lobbying by the IBM led ODF/anti-OpenXML campaign are increasingly realising that this isn't a zero-sum game.
