Popfly ... mashups in 30 seconds

I've been asked lots of questions in the last week about Popfly. I've pointed several people to some of the videos that are available, but also promised to post here with a set of links to some of them too. I've linked below to four videos, 30 seconds, 3 minutes, 15 minutes and 36 minutes .... take your pick Smile

Popfly is a Silverlight 1.0 application and runs wherever Silverlight runs, which means IE6/IE7 and Firefox 2.0. Techcrunch's Nik Cubrilovic says

"Popfly is a big leap forward from the competitors ... because it lets you do so much more, and it is one of the nicest web application interfaces I have ever seen."

Popfly's first component, Popfly Creator, forms the building blocks of the service. Mashups and gadgets are created by simply dragging and connecting visual "blocks" that represent APIs from a number of Web services. This alpha build has 40 blocks that include content from Flickr, Windows Live Spaces, Virtual Earth and various news services. More third party blocks are on the way, and developers can build them using Silverlight too.

See for yourself - Popfly's well worth taking a look at - even if you never intend creating a mashup. You'll see that this is a new type of programming paradigm, not dissimilar from the robotics studio, and well within the grasp of less technical users.

Here's the 30 second demo,
