1st group of DIS29500 proposed dispositions of comments

Hot on the heels of Alex Brown's helpful BRM FAQ Document comes the first wave of 662 proposed dispositions from Ecma to comments submitted by the National Bodies in the ballot phase.

According to Ecma's website, "Ecma has built and will maintain a web portal that hosts current drafts of the proposed dispositions which may become improvements to the specification". The portal is accessible to National Body members and will be regularly updated by the ISO/IEC DIS 29500 Editor, Rex Jaeschke.

The final Proposed Disposition of Comments document is due to Ballot Resolution Meeting delegates by January 14, 2008.

This is tipic MS behavior. They say that all the information is available on a portal, but they don't say that is needed special access to see the information.

MS/ECMA is telling only half of the story. DIS29500 is not really open, MS wants to keep control over it to have to option in the future to threat companies, developers and individuals.

OOXML was "in the open" and it generated +3000 comments/observations .. ( pathetic )

now Microsoft ( via ECMA ) doesn't want to make the same mistake

the responses will be kept as secret as possible, to avoid final users interested in standards review them

in the meantime , ECMA ( say, Microsoft ) is negotiating with the NB the "conditions" of support ( $$$, etc. )

the quality and technical merit of this +6000 page beast is 3rd class citizen here... shameful
