UOF translators

China's UOF (Uniform Office Format) is an emerging standard being developed by the Chinese Office Software Work Group (COSWG), led by the China Electronics Standard Institute (CESI), the Ministry of Information Industry (MII), major suppliers of Chinese office software suites, and other academic institutions.

As part of Microsoft's continued commitment to interoperability, Microsoft announced back in May 2007 that it would work with Beihang University of Beijing, TsingHua University of Beijing, and Litsoft (a member of Lenovo Group), and other partners to create a bidirectional translator between UOF and Open XML. The final version of UOF/OpenXML Translator was released on December 30th 2007.

There also appears to be a UOF/ODF translator available from the Open Standard Lab of Peking University and which, judging from the project page, IBM appears to have been involved in.

So, it seems the current situation is:-

which is exactly as it should be!
